The book is a biography, and it starts off with telling us that the book is actually an autobiography and not a book about how to write, and that is actually the title because it is the way he is referring to the fact that the publishing company had hired a ghostwriter, who told him how to write, and that basically makes the whole first chapter. The second chapter is when the story starts off, from the beginning of his life until the end, or from when he was a kid until almost when he is at when writing the book. He starts off with describing his early life in the first three chapters with comparing his mom to a stereotyped Asian mom, since he is a comedian, and is Asian American, and also the fact that he had ADHD. He refers to the stereotype that Asian parents like to put their kids in many activities, and compares it with the fact that when he was in kindergarten his mom said he should join a team sport and a martial art, and says he picked basketball and Judo since that is what his older brother was doing. After that, he comes to the story of when his kindergarten teacher spoke about how he behaved towards other kids, and how he was like an old man in the body of a little kid. After that, he goes to the part where he is done with elementary school, and he thought he was going to middle school, and his mom told him that she did not like the middle school that his friends were going to, as to the past experiences his brother had, and she had decided to send him to a charter school. He told stories of how he had to take a placement test when going to the charter school, and he ended up scoring well on it, which led to him being put a grade higher. He initially thought he would be popular when placed a grade higher, but it was actually the opposite. Everybody was older than him, and in the process, everybody started bullying him, and out of them there was this one kid who picked on him to the point at which he called him by racial slurs, like "Chink Boy". He tried to persuade his mom into moving him to another school initially, but she always won and after that, he did tell her he was getting bullied, which led to her complaining to the principal, who did try to change things, but it actually just led to him getting bullied more. Finally, this ended up in him figuring out that the bully was trying to entertain people and make them laugh, which led to him trying to be the class clown and entertain people. He finally did conquer the bully, and what else happened was that he ended up liking to entertaining people, and started making weekly comedy videos with his mom's camcorder, which he would show his family. When he went to high school, he ended up going back to his neighborhood high school, but the thing was that everybody had friend groups which they had made in middle school, and he ended up losing all of his friends until he joined the wrestling team. He described joining the wrestling team as an unbeatable experience for his situation, and how he made many friends.
